PULSE Dashboard 5.66.0.0 — Release Notes

PULSE Dashboard 5.66.0.0 brings 12 new features, 21 fixes and a move to DevExpress 26.1.4 for the screens and grids.

The Advanced Query Analyzer has been rebuilt around the way SQL Server Management Studio works, and it now completes and browses PULSE Dashboard's own optimized tables. Getting around a large dashboard is easier: a search box on the main toolbar finds any tab or report, a dockable tree shows every module, tab and report at once, and View SQL Query shows the SQL behind any report grid. Customer Order Lead Time is a new reporting module, plotting the average number of days between any two date fields.

What's new

• Advanced Query Analyzer — IntelliSense that reads your schema, a working File menu, background execution that can be canceled, GO batches, multiple result sets, a row limit and a status bar. PULSE Dashboard's own optimized tables appear in completion.
• Optimized Table Explorer — Browse every optimized table PULSE Dashboard can build, what each one holds, the columns it carries and the Macola® field behind each column — and write a query straight from it. Ctrl+Shift+O in the Query Analyzer.
• Customer Order Lead Time — A new report plotting the average number of days between any two date fields, by day or by fiscal month, with as many named and separately filtered series as required.
• View SQL Query — Right-click any report grid to see the SQL that produced the rows on screen, copy it, or open it in the Query Analyzer.
• Toolbar Quick Search — Find any tab or report from the main toolbar and go straight to it. Ctrl+K focuses the box from anywhere.
• Dashboard Explorer — A tree of modules, report tabs and reports that can be docked to either side of the dashboard, with captions editable in place, a search box, and both Follow dashboard and Lead dashboard.
• Import Collection Notes — Load customer collection notes from a spreadsheet into the notes on the A/R aging report, mapped to the layout the spreadsheet already has.
• Labeled Total Rows — Group footers and the grand total row read Food Service Totals and Grand Totals instead of carrying the SUM= prefix, with the wording following the aggregate the row is showing.
• Grouped Column Headings — A column named Group::Column in a Query Analyzer report is drawn under a shared heading spanning its group.
• Spreadsheet Imports Without Excel — Six import paths read spreadsheets directly, so Excel does not have to be installed and an import no longer disturbs the copy the user has open.
• On-time Shipping Graph Drilldown — Click any point on the graph to see the shipping lines behind it, filtered to the rows that produced the point.
• Admin-Only Edit Settings — A module can require Admin mode for Edit Settings, so a permission that grants broad access cannot be given to a user or usergroup. The Query Analyzer is the first module to use it.

Changes to existing behavior

• Auto-refresh and Persistent Auto-refresh have moved from the main toolbar to the File menu, below Refresh.
• Show debugging log... has moved from the Help menu to the end of the Administration menu, where it is visible only in administrator mode.
• PULSE Dashboard now uses DevExpress 26.1.4 for its screens and grids, upgraded from 24.2. The libraries are installed with the application.

Bug fixes

• Syntax coloring drifted right and was slow on long queries — Color now lands on the token it belongs to on every line, the whole script is colored however long it is, and coloring is fast enough not to be felt while typing.
• The caret could disappear while typing — The caret is drawn solid as characters are entered.
• A completion could be inserted into the wrong query — A completion is inserted into the query it was raised from, at the word it was raised on.
• The completion list could be stranded on screen or hidden behind the window — The list opens beside the word being typed, in front of the analyzer, and closes with the query it belongs to.
• The group panel designer could fail on an empty tree — Add New, Remove, Save and moving through the tree no longer raise an error when nothing is selected.
• One timed-out schema query disabled IntelliSense for the session — A failed schema query no longer switches IntelliSense off for the life of the window.
• Tables with the same name in different schemas were merged — Each table is held separately under its own schema, with its own columns and data types.
• The completion filter lagged one keystroke behind — The list filters on what is on screen, including immediately after a ..
• Screen elements displaced on 4K monitors in the Query Analyzer — The Query Analyzer scales correctly on high-resolution displays.
• A report that failed to build could erase its saved column layout — A layout that did not finish is never saved over the layout it came from, so a failed report no longer loses its columns.
• The Grid Layout Editor did not fit on screen — The window has been rebuilt to fit the monitor it opens on, with every control reachable at any size.
• Configuration screens were taller or wider than the screen — Twelve configuration screens that opened larger than a 1280×720 desktop now fit it, and three of them are resizable.
• Some screens drew controls outside their own window — Nine screens, Calendar Settings among them, have been sized to their own content so no control is left undrawn.
• Shared Tabs and Permanent Tabs menus never refreshed — Both menus are rebuilt when they open, so they list what is actually saved at that moment.
• Saved report criteria could point at the wrong field — Elements are matched on the whole value, so replacing one leaves every other element alone.
• Table overrides were lost when older settings were loaded — Settings in the older format are read in full and the override list is carried across intact.
• An unresolvable column reference in a saved layout — A layout's column lookup is checked against the real bounds of the list at both ends.
• Collection notes never reached the A/R aging report on Macola® ES — Customer numbers are stored in the form the aging report joins on, so notes entered on Macola® ES appear on the report.
• Two memory leaks slowed PULSE Dashboard over a long session — Both objects are released when the report or the menu that owns them closes.
• Job Scheduler failed when the log folder was missing — The activity log folder is created when it is missing.
• Screen elements displaced on 4K monitors in User Control — The User Control screen scales correctly on high-resolution displays.

Compatibility and upgrade

See Compatibility & Upgrade for upgrade notes. No database schema changes are introduced in this release, and existing saved tabs, reports and module settings are preserved on upgrade. Customer Order Lead Time is a new module and must be granted in User Control before it appears on the Add Report menu.
